“Where flows gold, soon flows beer”. “Seven Star Wallace” arrived in Rutherglen (then known as Barkly) shortly after the gold rush began in 1860. He came to quench the thirst of those that struck it rich and drown the sorrows of those that failed.

“Seven Star” shouted the bar for the naming rights to the town. So for the price of a few beers he renamed the town after his birthplace in Scotland and so Rutherglen, Victoria was born.

Fiona Myers and Gavin Swalwell opened Rutherglen Brewery in June 2015 and have put their heart and soul in, watching it grow. With 10 beers and a cider created, 6 beers/cider on tap and majority available in glass bottles for take away, the brewery also caters lunch, dinner and functions/weddings.

All beers are lovingly hand-crafted, in small batches, on premise with rich full bodied flavours and hop profiling to reflecting seasonality creating genuinely sessionable beers.

The brewery is generally open:-

Friday through Sunday 10am - 3pm

Wednesday through Saturday from 5.30pm

The brewery remains open all day during popular long weekends.
