When Gavin Swalwell and Fiona Myers opened Taste@Rutherglen in 2012 they wanted to bring a new style of restaurant to town. The couple focused on designing a seasonal menu dedicated to the finest local ingredients with a formal dining experience in an inviting environment.


“We dont want anyone to feel intimidated”said Gavin, “we believe that our food should be loved and wine enjoyed and that diners should take pleasure in knowing that they are welcome”.


Fiona leads the restaurant's team of capable and friendly front of house staff. Fi's background in hospitality, finance and administration boasts more than 20 years of experience owning and operating small to medium businesses.


Fi helps diners choose just the right wine to pair with their meals.


Gavin trained to become a chef in Melbourne, where he also worked at a number of well regarded restaurants including Le Restaurant, Burnham Beeches, Delgany and Sails on the Bay, Elwood. In 2001 he moved to Rutherglen and has worked at many of the regions fine dining restaurants.
